Lane's Family

Clyde Frost

Clydes dad was a horse trader, so Clyde and his brother grew up breaking horses.

In 1948 at the age of 15 he won the All Around Tittle at the "Kids Rodeo" in Lajunta, CO.

The first buckle Clyde remembers winning was as Springer, NM when he was about 19 years old.

Clyde had a few jobs in his day, but he found out at an early age that he could make more money rodeoing.

Clyde rode bareback, Saddle broncs and did some steer wrestling. He won many major rodeos such as Denver CO, Ogden UT, Little Rock AR, San Angelo TX, Kankakee IL. The National Finals Rodeo started in 1959 at Dallas,TX. Then was moved to Las Angeles, CA in 1962. Clyde qualified for 5 out of the first 6 Finals 1959,1960, 1962, 1963 and 1964. Two of those years he made to the NFR in both Bareback & Saddle Bronc 1962 and 1964.

Clyde was voted on by the fellow bareback riders to be the bareback riding director on the Rodeo Cowboy Association board of directors making different rules & decisions for the association. Clyde retired from rodeoing in 1968.

One of Clydes favorite buckles the one he wears still to this day is his All Around buckle he won at San Angelo, TX. Clydes favorite events to compete as were the NFR and Camdenton, MO.

In 2010 Clyde was inducted into the National Cowboy HOF & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK.

In 2018 he received the "Ben Johnson Award" at the same Museum in OKC.

Clyde said his greatest achievement he feels is his family and his relationship with our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.
