History: For over forty-five years, Little Britches Rodeo
has continued to be as tried and true a tradition as the sport of rodeo itself.
It has grown from a single, annual rodeo back in 1952 to more that 150 rodeos
throughout the country.
In 1961, a national convention was held in centrally located Denver, Colorado
with representatives from many states.
Headquarters for the association were established in Colorado.

Little Britches Rodeo is the oldest national junior rodeo association in the country. 
Kids from age 8 through 18 are eligible to participate. 
There are four divisions for contestants, 
Junior Girls, Junior Boys (age 8 through 13), 
Senior Girls, Senior Boys, (age 13 through 18).

Membership Information


The National High School Rodeo Association
is an international, non-profit organization
dedicated to the development of sportsmanship,
horsemanship, and character
in the youth of our country.

American Junior Rodeo Association

The American Junior Rodeo Association (AJRA) was 
founded by Alvin G. Davis of Brownfield, Texas in 1952.

Yearly some $120,000 worth of pay-off money, 
scholarships, trailers, saddles, buckles, 
and the like are presented to junior rodeo 
athletes at the AJRA National Finals Rodeo.

Throughout history, the AJRA has been one of the few youth rodeo associations 
recognized by the PRCA. 
Likewise, the AJRA has produced some of the most noted PRCA Champions 
such as: Roy Cooper, Jim Sharp, Tuff Hedeman, 
Shawn McMullan, Trevor Brazille, Cody Ohl, and more.

Contesting Age Divisions:
  8 & Under Boys and Girls (combined)
  9 - 12 Girls
  9 - 12 Boys
13 - 15 Girls
13 - 15 Boys
16 - 19 Girls
16 - 19 Boys

The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association

The NIRA is the governing body of college rodeo. 
One of the primary goals of the NIRA is to establish and 
maintain standards for conducting intercollegiate rodeo competition. 
It seeks to promote intercollegiate rodeo on a national scale 
by bringing national recognition as an organized and standard collegiate sport 
and to promote interest, understanding and appreciation 
and vigilance over western life and culture. 
NIRA student members are offered the opportunity 
to bring national recognition to their colleges and universities through
rodeo competition.
