Cowboy: Fast Breaking Out Of The Gate With Rodeo & Music Fans
Nashville, TN
- Out of left field, or make that out of the far left gate of the rodeo
arena,
comes a fresh concept that's set to fast catch the imagination of
the nation!
American
Cowboy, officially released on October 23rd, is a virtual rodeo
album "who's who" of champions –
a musical compilation of
THE top names in the world of pro rodeo, who've come together
to the
surprise and delight of music and rodeo fans to "sing out"
for
one singular purpose: To pay tribute to their sport and their
fans.
Ten percent of gross sales from the CD are being donated to
the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund,
a national fund established by the Justin
Boot Company to aid rodeo professionals in times of need.
With legendary
names like Larry Mahan, Donny Gay, and Monty Henson
(all Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame Members),
Fred Whitfield, Rope
Myers, Janet Stover, Speed Williams, Dan Mortensen,
Sherry Cervi, Rich Skelton, champion Bull Riders (Gay
& Mahan), Saddle Bronc Riders
(Mortenson & Henson), Calf Roper
(Whitfield), Team Ropers (Williams & Skelton),
Barrel Racers (Stover
& Cervi), and Steer Wrestler (Myers) –
all major events within the
arena have come together for a groundbreaking project in the
world of
rodeo and music.
The project,
more than a year in the making, is the creative brainchild of G.D.
Stinson,
of the NLT Music Group,
who produced the CD in Nashville,
recording it in studios throughout Texas and Oklahoma
as the respective
champions had breaks from the rodeo circuit.
"I think fans
are going to be amazed at what we've captured musically on these
legends," he noted.
Stinson calls the endeavor, "A
massive undertaking and a true labor of love.
The riders proved harder
to rope than a rocket in the draw!"
Part of the
"labor of love" is caught in the tracks of cut nine,
"He
Didn't Hear The Thunder" performed by Hall of Famer Larry Mahan and
Ronnie Twist.
The song is a tribute to the memory of 26-year-old
champion bull rider, Lane Frost,
who was killed in the Cheyenne rodeo
arena in 1989.
The story of his life was subsequently immortalized
in the major motion picture 8 Seconds.
Frost's parents, Elsie and
Clyde Frost of Lane, Oklahoma have fully endorsed American Cowboy.
Promotion
of the project is scheduled to be on a major national scale. Noted
Stinson,
"With the array of champions we've brought together for
this project,
we could launch nothing less than a world class event
promotion that would befit
the stature of the participants." |
